This past semester has been one of the most trying semesters of my college experience. I started the semester out with a teacher who doesn’t speak English trying to teach me how to use illustrator and an academic advisor who literally could not care less about weather or not I will graduated in the spring. After 9 weeks of back and forth with Georgia Southern about weather or not I was going to have all the classes I needed to graduate here we are. I still have to apply for graduation but I will defiantly be walking for graduation in the spring. I registered for my final set of actual classes and am taking 15 hours in the spring semester and then after completing a 12 credit hour requirement for an Internship in the Summer of 2018, Georgia Southern will finally give me a diploma. On top of the issues with classes, I literally had no idea where I was going to end up after the spring semester.
If you have read my blog before or know me you know that Hamp and I have been together for 5 years and we have dog. Currently I rent a one bedroom apartment in Statesboro, GA. The company I rent from came to ask if I wanted to resign my lease for another year in October. This right in the middle of the mess I was in with my classes as well as Hamp’s pledge-ship in Delta Tau Delta. I had no idea if I was even going o have the opportunity to stay in Statesboro after the Spring semester but if I did not resign I would have to move out at the end of June. With my plans so up in the air I didn’t know what to do. I literally felt like I was on a runaway train with no control over my own life. Would I be able to stay with Hamp in Statesboro? What would I do with Chappie if I had to move to a new town for an internship? So I just signed a lease and was determined to find an intership in the area so that I could stay here. I applied for internships in the Savannah area and found out about one that was offered through a boutique here but you had to be employed with them first. So I waited to get calls back from them. I got called back by a company in Savannah called Satchel. They make leather goods like handbags and wallets and literally their stuff is beautiful. I was looking for something more boutique-like but this seemed like a really good opportunity. I interviewed with them and they said they would be in touch. I felt okay leaving the interview but something felt off. I decided to follow up with the store here in Statesboro because people usually hire more around the holidays. I called and they asked me to drop off my class schedule and resume. I dropped it off and got a call back the next day.
I interviewed this past Friday and I got hired for both a sales associate position and for their Internship in the Summer! So I am now the newest employee of Cheeky Bliss here in Statesboro! Everything I was so stressed and worried about this whole semester just went away and all worked out for the best. So I got a big girl job now! So I guess just take that as a life lesson that everything will always work out for the best.
On another note I went to my last semi formal and last football tailgate ever as an undergrad at Georgia Southern and we too some cute pictures so I thought I would share.
