Disney World Vacation 2017

IMG_1713Hey ya’ll! So I have been on vacation in my favorite place in the world, Disney World. I try to go at least once a year and have been going for years so we have figured out most of the do’s and don’ts of Disney World. I have done a post about how to get the best deals with the meal plans and the ticket packages a while back but I still wanted to review some of the things we did and places we ate on our vacation this year.

First off we got the 2017 Disney Dining Plan not the signature or the quick service one. This meal plan has changed a little since the first year we purchased it but I think you get more of your moneys worth out of it with the changes made. This year everyone was entitled to one Quick Service Meal (Entree and a drink) per person per day, 2 Snacks per person per day, and a Table Service Meal (Entree, Drink and Dessert) per person per day. This plan comes with a bit of sticker shock but if you have ever been to Disney and tried to eat cheaply its almost impossible. We calculated it this year and the meal plan costs $69 a day per person but a Hamburger and fries can easily cost a person $15-$20 a piece in the parks and a table service meal can cost twice that. If you use it efficiently its defiantly worth the money!

We always eat at the Trails End Restaurant in Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. Its at the Settlement area of the resort which is the area near Bay Lake. You can get here by going to a park and catching a bus to this campground or going to Magic Kingdom and catching the boat that takes you across the Lake. This restaurant is a country cooking style buffet and one of the only places on property you can get sweet tea! It takes one of the Table Service Entitlements per person. Its super good and kid friendly. I recommend using the Disney Mobile App to make reservations though because it can get pretty crowded at prime meal times but they do offer walk ups.

Another Table Service restaurant I highly recommend is the Be Our Guest Restaurant located in Magic Kingdom. Its a restaurant that seats you in the ball room of the beasts castle or in one of the adjacent wings including the West Wing where the enchanted rose is contained in glass just like in the movie. They also serve The Grey Stuff for dessert! Its delicious, if you don’t believe me, just ask the dishes! I cannot stress this enough: MAKE RESERVATIONS! This is the one place that you will not be able to walk up to ever. Or at least right now while its still so popular and new. The food is amazing and would easily cost $30 to $40 a person without the meal plan. The menu has something for everyone too! It also only takes on Table Service Entitlement per person.

We also tried a New Place this year called Le Cellier. It’s a steak house located in the Canada area of the Epcot World Showcase. I recommend reservations but you can walk up too (try a off meal time like 2 or 3 o’clock or 4 or 5 o’clock or after the dinner rush as gone down.) This restaurant ins considered a signature dinning location which means it’s expensive but in terms of the meal plan it will take 2 Table Service Entitlements per person at 1 sitting. This isn’t too bad considering the cheapest thing on the menu is $44.

We went to aa lot of other places too but these were just a few of my favorites.

So you’re probably wondering what a quick service restaurant is in relation to the dining plan. They are any of the fast food style restaurants. Basically burger and fries places but part of the beauty of Disney is that they are so creative. If you do your research you can often find places that are Quick Service but offer a far better selection than a theme park burger. Here are just a few that I like but they have many more and you can find them on the Mobile App and the menus are listed there as well.

Magic Kingdom: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe (has 3 bays all offering different options, here you can get a 1/2 chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans.) Pinocchio’s Village Haus (Pizza)

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons (located in The Land has options from the green houses that are housed there.) Also check out each country in the World Showcase they all have a quick service as well as a Table Service restaurant themed to that country in them.

Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree BBQ ( huge plates of BBQ dishes, Ribs, Chicken, BBQ etc.)

Hollywood Studios: I personally don’t care for the foods in this park but they do have a Restaurant that serves chicken and waffles called The Backlot Express if your in to that. **Bonus: There is a snack place right next to  the Indiana Jones Stunt Show that offers Funnel Cakes! Its on the meal plan as a snack and you can get a plain one with powdered sugar but also one with ice cream, chocolate syrup, and strawberries! (Basically a heart attack on a plate.) But this item is $11.95 and considered 1 snack entitlement and you get to per day plus its big enough to share with 3 or 4 people… I’ll let you do the math on that one.

Disney Springs: D-Lux Burger is on the Dining plane and you get so much food! Yeah its a burger place but not the average burger place.

Now that you know what to eat when you go, I need to tell you the best things to ride/ get fast passes for.

So there’s the usual rides like Soarin’, Test Track, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Peter Pan, and the Various Mountains (Space, Splash, Everest, and Big Thunder) but they have just opened a brand new area in Animal Kingdom from the Avatar Movie called Pandora! If you haven’t seen the movie I highly recommend it! So here is my review of Pandora. First of all there are lots of things that are interactive in this portion of the park; things to move and touch. During the day its beautiful with the water falls and floating mountains and native plants. At night its a totally different place! Everything glows and lights up and it’s all interactive. Now there are two rides in this area if you can get a fast pass for either of them get it if you can’t then they are still worth the wait! Trust me! You do not want to miss the Flight of Passage Ride! This is going to have the longest line stand in it! You will not regret it! If you love Soarin’ or even thought it was kinda cool this ride will blow your mind. You get to ride on the back of a Banshee (the flying dragon thing from the movie). Probably one of the most incredible rides at Disney World to date!

The other ride in Pandora is the Navi River Journey. This line for this ride tends to thin at night to about 30 minuets. We got on it at a 30 minuet wait time and probably only waited 10 minuets. Its really just one of the average boat rides similar to Pirates of the Caribbean and It’s a Small World. Its pretty to look at and interesting but the Flight of Passage definitely blows this one out of the water.

Another thing you cannot miss is the Happily Ever After Show every night at Magic Kingdom starting at 9:00 p.m. It is what replaced the Wishes Show and while I loved that show Happily Ever After is about 10 steps above it! Go see for your self.

Bonus: The frozen sing along show at Hollywood Studios is worth a visit!

If ya’ll wanna know more about any rides or parks or restaurants let me know in the comments and I can review them too because I have probably visited them before and if not I for sure know someone who has my Big is a Cast Member.

Warning: This is a life changing dessert recipe post… Proceed with caution.

So I know I have been MIA for a few weeks but I have been busy with finals, then I went to New York, and came home and started a new job at Wild Wing Cafe. But I am back now and done with school for a bit so I will be able to post pretty frequently… Hopefully. So be on the look out for tons of pictures and details from my Fashion Study Tour to New York City and some other really fun posts.

So for the first post in a while I discovered an amazing dessert recipe on Pinterest. I don’t usually have a lot of good luck with recipes I find on Pinterest. I might cook it once and it be pretty good but not good enough to stick around as a regular dish. This one however is defiantly a keeper.

Me and my friends had a “cook in” the other night. It was literally pouring rain and so we couldn’t have our previously planned cook out. We had already bought all the things too cook so we went ahead and cooked and so I made a dessert. We had hamburgers and mac and cheese, pasta salad and chips and dip. I had made this dessert previously and it was great but it turned out to look like a mess because I didn’t have a spring form pan. I 10 out of 10 would recommend a spring form pan to put this in. So I got this off Pinterest so its not my own recipe but here it is.

Brownie Batter No Bake Cheesecake

(Did I mention that it was no bake? How easy is that!)

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE CRUST
  • 2 ½ cups (225 g) chocolate sandwich
  • cookie crumbs (I use Oreos)
  • 6 tbsp (86 g) unsalted butter
FOR THE FILLING
  • 24 oz (680 g) cream cheese, softened (I use light)
  • ½ cup (96 g) granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp (44 ml) heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (375 g) brownie mix (dry) (I use a Low Fat mix)
FOR THE GLAZE
  • 3 tbsp (23 g) brownie mix (dry)
  • 3 tsp (15 ml) vegetable oil
  • 4 tbsp (59 ml) heavy whipping cream
  • (or milk)
FOR THE TOPPING
  • 1 cup (237 ml) heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup (65 g) powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS
FOR THE CRUST
  1. Prepare a 9-inch (23-cm) springform pan by lightly greasing the edges of the pan with cooking spray, and then wiping gently with a paper towel. Before measuring, grind the cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or blender. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the butter for 45 to 60 seconds until the butter is melted.
  2. In a separate medium-size bowl, pour the melted butter into the cookie crumbs and stir until there are no dry crumbs left. Pour the crumbs into your springform pan and press firmly into the bottom and up the sides of your springform pan to create a thick crust.
FOR THE FILLING
  1. Beat the cream cheese on medium-high speed for 2 to 3 minutes until it’s light and fluffy.
  2. Slowly add the sugar into the cream cheese while beating the mixture. Next, add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract. Beat until the filling is smooth and creamy, scraping down the bowl as needed.
  3. Slowly add the dry brownie mix, beating on medium speed until the dry mix is completely blended into the cream cheese.
  4. Pour the filling into the prepared crust and spread evenly. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours until the filling is firm.
FOR THE GLAZE
  1. In a small bowl, combine dry brownie mix, vegetable oil and heavy whipping cream or milk. Whisk until the mixture is smooth. For a thinner mixture, you can add additional heavy whipping cream. Drizzle over the cheesecake.
FOR THE TOPPING
  1. Place the mixing bowl and whisk attachment in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes to chill.
  2. Pour the heavy whipping cream into the chilled bowl and use an electric mixer to beat the heavy cream on medium-high speed until the cream gets bubbly. Slowly add the powdered sugar and continue beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  3. Remove the springform pan edge and use a large star tip to pipe the whipped cream on the outside edges of the cheesecake.

This is where I got the recipe, defiantly check out this site it has some great recipes!

One thing I did to… well… enhance this recipe was add some strawberries! They are so good with this and it helps cut the richness of the chocolate in this cheesecake! I personally think it makes it 10 times better!! If you love chocolate like I do you will love this recipe! Try it and tell me what y’all think about it!

Denim and Stripes

So everyone thought the denim mini skirt died in the early 2000’s but its back. Okay so it’s not really a mini skirt but still its denim. The skirt is from a local store here in Statesboro called Dish. I love this look. It is so comfortable but classy. The top is from Entourage and of course is paired with gold Jacks. I think that this look would also be cute with white converse or Keds and would also make it easy for walking. Great for summer. I also really love this top with white jeans and it looks extra springy.

Look 1

I also wore a really cute beaded wrap choker and a black choker to finish off this look.

I am also trying a new hairstyle. A few months ago I cut off eight inches of my hair. Its starting to grow back now and I really need to get my highlights re-done but I decided to start parting it down the middle. I keep seeing celebrity photos and other people with it and it is so cute!

Savannah Florals

This past weekend I went to Savannah to work on some fashion projects for my classes. I wore one of my favorite dresses. It is a dress I bought from a boutique called Entourage in Statesboro. There are several other locations in other college towns in Georgia and can also shop online. You can follow them on Instagram (@shopentourage) and Sanpchat (shop_entourage). Everything in the stores and online is $42 and under so that’s great for the budget. 🙂

I paired the dress with gold Jack Rogers Sandals and some casual jewelry. But you could dress it up a bit more with some wedges and different hair and makeup!

I love this dress so much and it’s comfy so it will definitely be coming with me to New York next month!:)

More outfits coming soon! Yay!

I’m On Bloglovin’ :)

Yay! Hopefully, this will create more traffic for my blog! What better to do than procrastinate all the homework I need to do than catch up on social media? 🙂 My excuses: (1) it’s Monday (2) class got cancelled (3) it’s raining so I am in bed!

Why Me?

I will go ahead and tell you this is not really a fun post so if that’s what you’re looking for keep scrolling. However, this is a personal post that I believe will not only help my readers learn a little bit more about me but also learn a few things about life too.

So if ya’ll read my very first post you know that I have somewhat of a story. It’s not all a happy story but at least the end is a happy one. I have waited to post until I felt like it was a good time but honestly there is no “good time” to tell a story like mine. So this is my life story this far. I will keep it short and sweet because there is a point to my story. So here it is…

I was in 7th grade. I had three best friends and I was what you would call popular I guess. I was happy I do remember that much. I went to my local middle school a block from my house and one of my best friend’s house too. She was my neighbor. She had brown hair similar to mine, freckles like me, she was younger than me but smart so she skipped a grade. That’s why she was in my class. That’s why she and I became friends.

Her birthday was in October, the end of October. About the middle of October she started to pass out birthday invitations, she even had me pass out a few to some girls in one of my classes. I waited wondering when mine was coming. I kept waiting. Finally the weekend of her birthday came around and nothing. I watched out my bedroom window as all of my friends were dropped off at my bestfriend’s house. I watched out my bedroom window all of my friends sing and laugh and play games together and worst of all yell things at me and laugh at me when I went outside. They did this all from her side of the street, girls I had been friends with for years suddnely decided I wasn’t good enough to be friends with them anymore. Why me? I didnt know why, or what I had done I just knew it hurt, a lot.

Finally that horrible weekend was over. I went back to school thinking maybe things would go back to normal. I know that sounds crazy but I was just so confused about the past weekends events I thought it was just some big joke. But it wasnt. And things did not go back to normal. They would never go back to normal. For the next few months I was made fun of, pushed into trash cans, sat alone at luch, cried myslef to sleep, and all but begged to be part of the group again. After Christmas break things got worse than ever and I was looking for a way out. My parents go worried and pulled me out of school. I began attending the private school in my county. I was still alone but at least I wasnt being tormented everyday anymore. I was shy and I hid behind large baggy clothes and dark makeup. I didn’t want to make friends because I didn’t know how and I definitly didn’t trust anyone.

Then one girl reached out from my church. She talked to me ad treated me like nothing was wrong with me. She saved me. She didnt know that but she did. We were friends for a while but she went to a different school the school where She went and I couldn’t go back there. So we grew apart. She is still a friend, she is a good person and she saved me. I wasn’t in a good enough place to maintain a friendship at the time so really it was for the best. If we talked now I would tell her thank you.

Sometime after this I was begining to make friends with people in my small class of 17 at my new school. One girl in particular became my friend and we got close. I started going to church with her. Her dad was the preacher there. He had started the church. It was different there. All kinds of people were welcome and you could dress anyway you wanted. They even played good music. I began going there a lot. I went to youth there and got really involved. I was finally happy again. I was in about eighth grade at this point.

One day a boy walked in. He was my heighth, skinny, dark hair, nice eyes. I knew his sister from church and my old middle school. I knew him too, because of her. He didn’t talk much at first. He was friendly with our youth leader and another boy. I don’t remeber how it happened but that boy and his friend became friends with me and my new friends. We were together every weekend we all became best friends. There were 5 of us. I was so happy then. I loved hanging out with my knew friends espessially because of one person that boy that walked in that day. His name was Hampton. As I got to know him he was funny, and sweet, and not too bad to look at either. I liked him. A lot. I had had bad luck with guys in the past. He was different though. For my birthday that year he gave me a silly little dinosaure toy and I literally treasured it. It was all he could afford and he didn’t even know I liked him then. About a month later on October 24th, 2012 he walked up to me after church and asked me out. I was so happy someone thought I was good enough again.

I took a girl home that night (by this time I was a junior and could drive) she got out after we giggled about how Hamp liked me. She got out and it occured to me all of a sudden and I fell down off my little cloud 9. He was hers though. Hamp had dated her before me. He was there for it all, he knew the things she did to me. All I could think was this beautiful guy is probably messing with me. Why me? And then the panic attack happened. I had only had them when I was in middle school and there it was again. I couldn’t go through all that again.

My friends assured me that wasn’t the case and that I should talk to Hamp about it. So I did and I learned she had messed with him the way she had messed with me. He liked me becasue he liked me not becasue he wanted to get back her but becasue we had grown to be friends and he really liked me. My life became MY life again. He has helped me with my trust issues. He has shown me that I can trust people and people can love me for me. I am truely happy now.

Its been 4 years and some change now and Hamp and I are still together. We have a dog and we are in college. He’s waiting for me to come to bed becasue it is one in the morning and I am up writing this.

My life has changed so much mostly for the better. Some peoples lives dont turn out like mine though. Some people’s end. I can’t explain why this happened to me the way it did but I just know it did. I like to think I am better for it but I’m not sure that I am. I just count it as an experience. I know other people go though similar experiences with bullying. I have wrote this story a million times, a million different ways but no way ever amounted to the way it actually felt. I was alone, like really alone. I don’t want any one else to ever feel that way but I know it happens to plenty of other kids. But I am proof that there is anohter way out than just “the end”.  So thats my past and all the blog posts and things you read baout on here they are my future. And from here it looks bright. 🙂

If you have been or are being bullied you are not alone. It may feel like it now but trust me middle school, high school it’s not the whole world. There is more out there. Trust me. If anyone has any questions or needs to talk, I’ll listen or point you in the direction of one of those good people that are still out there.

Good Night, ya’ll.

Typical Sorority Girl Post: Flask Painting

Disclaimer: this is the first one I have ever painted and feel like I could do better.

My sorority formal is this weekend and in celebration, I painted a really cute flask. Similar to the cooler painting phenomenon I am going to give y’all my how to guide.  So I started out with a plain stainless steel flask that I bought from the camping section at Walmart. Make sure it’s smooth because that will make the paint stick better.

So you will need: Stainless Steel Flask, Acrylic Paint, Modpodge in whatever finish you prefer (I used glossy), and an Idea of what you want to put on it.

Now that you have all of your supplies start by painting your base coat. This is what color you want the background to be. Do one coat, let it dry and do another.

IMG_3369
This is my First Coat of Paint

Once both coats have dried paint a coat of mod podge on and let it dry for at least an hour otherwise you will have a sticky mess. The mod podge will be what keeps the paint from chipping.

Next, paint your design on. I went to Pinterest for ideas and came up with a Lion King theme because that is my favorite Disney movie. I used a sharp paint pen but you can use a brush, I just prefer to write letters with a pen.

After I did the lettering and all I put two more coats of mod podge over it to seal it and here we go newly painted flask.

img_0427
On the back of the flask, I painted Formal 2017.

I think that it work really nicely for formal and be really cute. I would probably do a different design if I went back and re-did it but I will probably paint myself a cooler for the summer. I will make sure to do a post about that too.

If you want to make extra sure that your flask’s paint won’t chip off I would suggest buying a sealant that you can find in the spray paint isle. I would definitely use it for a cooler but on this mod podge should be just fine. Oh! and FYI in spray paint isle, they have really great glitter spray paint that doesn’t chip and I think that would be really cute on a flask too.  I have done several projects with it and it is phenomenal.

Update: Sprang Break 2017 Myrtle Beach Trip

I am currently riding in the car towards my home to pick up my dog after 4 days in Myrtle Beach for Spring Break. The one day we got on the beach this is what it looked like…

Myrtle Beach

You’re  wondering why no one is out there playing in the sand and the water, right? Well, the highest temperature we saw on the whole trip was 60. Keep in mind we slept in tents and the wind was brutal. But that didn’t stop us from having a good time. The motto of the trip became “we are haveing a good day” with a slight sense of sarcasm due to the miserable weather. However aside from the weather situation we had a good time.

Day l: (March 10th) Arrive at 11:30 p.m.ish after several missed exits and minor arguments. Set up and went to sleep for the night.

Day 2: (March 11th) Woke up to sunny 61 degree weather. Cooked hamburgers for lunch and finished setting up our camp. Drank… played on the beach. For dinner that night since the temperature had dropped significantly we ate at a restaurant called Bimini’s. Highly recommend it! There was live music and a cool atmosphere it also was fairly inexpensive for a seafood restaurant. We then had to go buy traps to cover our tents and space heaters for the impending monsoon that was actually the south part of a nor’easter snowstorm! Then we sat in a tent with heaters and played Cards Against Humanity and drank.

Day 3: (March 12th) Woke up approximately 10:30 a.m. to SNOW next to the beach ( I mean literally on the beach, our campsite was probably 50 feet from a beach access point). Obviously it was cold so we all decided to get up and go to brunch at Waffle House and then went back and swam in the heated indoor pool and drink. Then we decided to go to Margaritaville and eat dinner. Then we walked around alittle in Broadway at the beach which was a lot of shops and rides and restaurants that are actually really fun in warmer weather. We also went to the boardwalk for a while! (They have an awesome candy store there.) After that we went back to the campsite played a little more Cards Against Humanity and drank some more.

Day 4: (March 13th) We woke up around 11 a.m. and made pancakes and bacon. We all got dressed up and packed up a bit so it would take us too long the next morning. We went to dinner/ happy hour at a place called Nacho Hippo (highly recommend it and it has great prices!) and then we all went to see a movie. The girls went to see Table 19 ( Not recommended) and the boys went to see Logan (idk they said it was great though). Then we were all hungry again so we went to Steak and Shake and laughed and talked!

Day 4: (March 14th) About 5 am the wind got crazy and our easy-up tent ended up upside down on the other campsite which was startling to wake up to. We broke it down in about 35 degree weather and then went back to bed until about 9 and the got up and packed. And so here we are now writing this as I’m passing through Columbia South Carolina.

Overall it was a good time and a good experience! We will definitely be planning another trip but definitely in warmer weather!!

Spring Break 2K17! Kinda a success unfortunately no one actually got hammered like your supposed to on spring break in college but we will try again this summer hopefully!

Spring Break 2017: Myrtle Beach Camping Trip

So I know I haven’t posted in a little while but I have been sick and really busy with midterms. I also had a Philanthropy event for Juvinile Arthritis with my sorority. We even had our own Geofilter for the event!

.

But now things have calmed down and there is only 4 days until Spring Break 2017 for Georgia Southern. I am so excited because some of my sorority sisters and I are going camping in Myrtle Beach. We were hoping for good weather but I think it’s going to be a little colder than we would have liked. It’s okay though because we are still tent camping right on the beach! 😎 I have made like six lists so I don’t forget anything. 😂 I try to be organized. We don’t really have a set plan we are just gonna play it by eat and see where the weekend takes us.

My boyfriend and another one of my sisters boyfriends are also coming with us. My boyfriend and I have a four person tent so even though I am used to “glamping” in my family’s 5th wheel camper, I will still have a spacious home away from home in Myrtle Beach. I have remembered to pack the essentials such as sunscreen, bug spray, shower shoes, etc. but I am sure I’ll forget something important!

Y’all should really check out the place we are staying especially if you or your family has a camper! It’s called Myrtle Beach Travel Park and it is huge! There is so much to do there at the campground and it’s very family oriented but still fun for a friends trip. It has reasonable prices for being right on the beach at $42 a night and is full hook up!

I am sure I will have a ton of fun stories to tell when I get back and maybe I can post while I am there because the campsite has WiFi too! In the mean time I am anxiously awaiting some swim suits I ordered from a website called Cupshe which I highly recommend! The only problem is that some of my items were back ordered so only one is expected to get here before spring break. 😳 ( Which is totally fine because I bought 3 swimsuits and a beach towel for $80) I’ll post about those when they come in because they are soooo cute!

I’ll post again soon because I can’t wait to share the details of my trip with y’all.
